Job Description:
This is a full-time position working 35 hours / week
The mission of the Manlius Library is to serve as a community center providing free and equal access to cultural, intellectual, and informational resources for community members of all ages.
The Public Services Coordinator is responsible for a broad range of duties related to all aspects of Manlius Library’s programs and services. This includes but is not limited to design, development, planning, organization, management, implementation, promotion, and assessment of programs and services to the community. In this role, the Public Services Coordinator collaborates with library staff, community members, and various community groups to develop a diverse and wide range of services in support of the library’s mission and vision. In that capacity the Public Services Coordinator is responsible for development and implementation of innovative and engaging programs and services for all community members.
REPORTS TO: Library Director
Position Duties:
* Evaluates needs of community and identifies opportunities for new and enhanced services
* Collaborates with library staff and community partners to design programs and services to meet the needs of the community in accordance with the library’s mission
* Identifies and coordinates resources (funds, expertise, and partners) to successfully implement programs and services
* Develops programs from design phase through implementation to assessment
* Provides support for library staff in program and service development across all areas of the library
* Promotes programs and services using a variety of different formats and outlets
* Assesses and evaluates success of library programs and services against library’s mission and vision
* Identifies trends and opportunities and plans services accordingly
* Secures grants to support service needs of library
* Prepares and manages budgets to support programs and services
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Information and/or Library Science, accredited by the American Library Association.

* Strategic thinking and long-range planning
* Grant writing proficiency
* Some knowledge and experience in project management
* Ability to make decisions, follow procedures, and interpret policies
* Knowledge of statistical analysis
* Ability to organize job duties and work independently
* Stays informed of professional issues, trends and attitudes, and local interests
* Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
* Strong customer service skills
* Knowledge of audio-video technology
* Knowledge of and proficiency in graphic design software
* Social media fluency
* Communication skills (one-on-one, group discussions, public speaking)
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public
Ability to operate and view a computer screen for extended periods of time. Depth, color, peripheral, and distance vision routinely required. Regular lifting up to 35 pounds. Ability to hear, talk, walk, sit, bend, reach, grasp. Occasional need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
